About Carrom
Carrom is the striking-and-pocketing board game played across South Asia, here on a 3D tournament-size board: a 74 cm lacquered playing surface, 3.18 cm coins and a heavier 4.13 cm striker. Pieces slide on a powdered surface rather than rolling, so the simulation uses real sliding friction, the true mass difference between striker and coins (the striker follows through after a full hit), soft rebounds off the wooden frame and corner pockets the size of the real ones. The rules are those of a singles board: white breaks, pocketing your own coin earns another turn, the queen must be covered, pocketing the striker costs you a coin, and the board goes to whoever clears their nine coins after the queen is covered. Play the computer, which places its striker and judges its cuts more precisely as you clear levels, pass the device between two players, or play online with every flick refereed by the server.
🎮How to Play Carrom
- 1Slide the striker along your baseline with the slider (or A and D), then flick it: drag back from the striker and let go, or touch where to send it and pull the power bar. Arrow keys and Space work too.
- 2The striker must be flicked forward, away from your baseline. White breaks first.
- 3Pocket one of your own coins and you play again. Pocketing your opponent's coins helps them.
- 4The red queen can be pocketed once you have pocketed a coin of your own. Cover her by pocketing one of your coins on the same or the next shot, or she goes back to the centre.
- 5Pocketing the striker is a foul: your coins from that shot and one more come back to the centre.
- 6Pocket all nine of your coins after the queen is covered to win the board — you score one point per coin your opponent has left, plus 3 if you covered the queen.
